Updates 04/15/2008
Submitted by kd8cpx on Tue, 04/15/2008 - 16:21.First Severe Weather Incident
We experienced our first bout of severe weather for the year on Friday (04/11/2008). Most of SE Michigan had a Tornado Watch in effect until 21:00 Coordination went very well, and MiCON contact was great. Kudos to Jay (WB8TKL) for helping us out in our time of need. Things were pretty quiet in Monroe County except for some occasional heavy rain and thunder. Sanilac County in the West Central part of the lower pennusula had two Tornado Warnings. Overall the event was handled very well, and again I appreciate everyone who assisted us.

We will meet at the Emergency Management Division on S. Raisinville Rd. at 09:30 and begin the exercise from there. Please attend, it is a good time and good expierence to have incase of a real emergency. Once again, all are encourged to participate.

Every Minute Counts
Submitted by kd8cpx on Tue, 04/10/2007 - 04:15.Nice little movie pointed out by Pete (KD8DMJ). Check it out, shows a great history of what we're all about.
In 1955, The Phil-Mont Mobile Radio Club, an association of mobile amateur radio operators, provided emergency communications during the ... all ยป during the devastating flooding along the Delaware River and in the Pocono Mountains following Hurricane Diane, the sixth costliest U.S. hurricane of the 20th century...fifty years before Hurricane Katrina. In 1959, the club produced this short film to explain amateur radio, and especially mobile communications as practiced by the club.
(The main film begins after a three minute interview with Jim Spencer, W3BBB, produced by a local cable channel many years later)
